■History of the Japanese Rice Cracker

The Rice Cracker have a very ancient history in Japan. Oldest book recording about the Rice Cracker is from Bungo Province Fudoki（豊後国風土記）, compiled during Nara period A.D.713 on May 30th. Empress Genmei ordered an Imperial Decree to record all provincials’ cultures, geographies, oral traditions and local products including the Rice Cracker.

Traditional food culture of the Rice Cracker is continuing until today. Every year on January 11, traditional ceremony Kagami biraki（鏡開き）praying for good health and protection from illness is performed with having Rice MOCHI, including ARARE Rice Crackers.
